COURSE STRUCTURE

The full program is divided into 4 phases. Once the participant completes all the phases they receive the program completion certificate and become a part of the
LCCM alumni network. Brief information on each phase is outlined below:

Phase I: Online Learning

This will be a completely online (virtual) and self-paced phase where the participant will have access to e-modules on an online learning portal. learning management system. Key features will be:

  •   The course will run for a period of 8-10 weeks, with 2-3 hours of effort/week
  •   A participant can log in via their mobile phone or laptop/desktop to complete the course over a period of 8~10 weeks to access the content
  •   Each e-module will be accompanied by a quiz

The Online learning modules will be divided into the following categories:

Core Modules

These are mandatory courses which will give participants an understanding of the basic of climate science and other fundamentals like climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation strategies, climate finance, negotiations, mitigation strategies, etc.

Elective Modules

Depending upon the sector or industry the participant belongs to; they will have access to course topics which are relevant to their field of work. Currently elective modules have been envisioned for the following systems: Urban, Rural, Transport, Energy, Natural Resources and Manufacturing. 

The program is launched with elective modules focussing on the Urban Sector and will cover other sectors in the coming years.  

As the program evolves, additional sectors will also be identified and course modules will be developed as needed. 

Phase II: In-person Learning

In this phase, the participants will be grouped into cohorts of 30~35 and invited to come together to one at a location for face-to-face learning for a week.

Key features:

  • The session will engage participants in groups of 30-40 and will run for 1 week.
  • In this phase participants will engage in case discussion and group exercises to test their learnings from phase I and apply them, to multidisciplinary real-life situations. It would also involve local site visit wherever possible.

Phase III: Project Work

In this phase, participants will work on specific projects over a period of 6~8 months. The projects will be guided by mentors, who will support participants to develop, detail and implement project ideas.

Some examples of project work: 

  • Developing low carbon pathways for a city
  • Developing roadmaps for scaling up electric mobility
  • Developing plans for scaling up renewable energy
  • Developing plans for improving waste management
  • Mapping opportunities for nature-based solutions within a city
  • Quantifying opportunities for saving energy and costs in an SME
  • Designing a loan product for women-led SMEs
  • Identifying reskilling/upskilling needs for employees for a low-carbon future
  • Designing behavioural change interventions for the team/offices/resident welfare association

These are only indicative possibilities; projects will be developed based on the participant’s area of interest.   

Another standout feature of the LCCM program in this phase will be exposure visits to domestic or international location to experience & learn about best practices. *

Phase IV: Course Completion

This this final phase of the program, the participants will have the opportunity to reconvene as a cohort, share their project work and receive the course certification.

Community of Practice (An LCCM Alumni Network)

This is another standout feature of the LCCM program. Once participants complete their course, they become a part of the LCCM community of practice - alumni network.

Some of the key advantages of the being part of the Community of Practice are:

Access to LCCM resources, reports and data.

Networking & knowledge sharing opportunities with other LCCM participants, mentors and guides.

Invitations to exclusive online and offline activities & events organized for the LCCM network
